Toy Story Mania!

New Attraction Immerses You in Disney-Pixar Play!

Starting Summer 2008, the new Toy Story Mania! attraction, inspired by Disney-Pixar’s “Toy Story” films, will blow you away with its combination of colorful, ride-through excitement, 3D technology and full-on competition.

But we just couldn’t wait to take in the fun.  That’s why we  visited the construction site with Walt Disney Imagineering Show Producer Chrissie Allen to check in on the action.

A Note From Gary:

Just got in from going to the Disney Hollywood Studios to see a preview of Toy Story Midway Mania. While in line they had to close the ride and evacuate the building. Note: If this happens to you hang around the entrance after the crowds thin out and they may offer you a fast pass to get back in once the ride reopens.

About 1 hour later we re-entered the attraction. The queue is very very nice. Lots of detail to keep you distracted, and air conditioned. The queue inside is very large. The audioanamatronic Mr. Potato Head is amazingly well done! The ride itself is fairly run of the mill electric rail (Pooh / Snow White rides. The cars are two sided and do rotate some during the ride but nothing outrageous. The shooting gallery devices are straight out of the Pirates of the Caribbean experience at DisneyQuest. Pull the sting and fire. The movies you are firing into are all 3D with some nice special effects.

I was told they run about 17 cars at a time on the track. Each car can hold up to 4 people. We are guessing that the ride is around 4 minutes in length. With load and unload time I am guessing a ride capacity of around 800 per hour.

We had a good time riding this new addition to the park.  Not something I would wait hours to ride, but well worth a 30-40 minute wait if you can not get a fast pass.

I thought the whole street area was very well done. It appears that once completed there will be a camera shop, gift shop and cafe directly across from the main entrance to the ride. (I don't think it was just false fronts).

Have a great week! The Orlando Fringe Festival starts this Thursday!
